Happy Halloween! Luck be with you!

To all, Happy Halloween.
Sorry for the short post,
but here's a wish.

I reckon it's something we'll all need now.

Have I known you?

"你觉得我们前世有没有认识?" Do you think we've known each other in our past lives?

"什么?" What?

"你相信人有前世吗?" Do you believe in past lives?

"相信...等...我们以前是不是仇人?" I do...wait...were we 'enemies' then?

"有没有搞错..." What on earth..

Here Mei Yee was again with her random questions. This time, it did spark a thought. Alright, maybe not for those who shrug at the thought of superstitions or beliefs that seem so much against science and all those concepts.

So what do you think of reincarnation? The idea of rebirth, where your soul lands itelf in another body. For all you know, you could have been on this planet earlier than you thought. Goodness! You may have been someone significant in the past and yet not know it!

You'd be surprised at the number of researches done to prove it. I heard there were professors who documented interviews with children who could vaguely remember being someone else, and found that their 'experiences of the past' were true! Some even had matching birthmarks as the 'person' they were before. Others gave in to hypnosis. Skeptics would say it's falsely inserted memories, but I mean, loads of religions found shades of truth in it too, right?
And everyone you know now may have known you for a very very very long time...

"我读了一本书说如果我们前世是朋友, 现在也会是朋友. 仇人永远当仇人." I read somewhere that if we were friends in the past, we'd be friends now. Enemies remain enemies.

All I could think of was how even in such a close friendship, Mei Yee and I would be 'arguing' and 'fighting'.

"我们以前是什么关系?" So who were we in the past?

The Price of Courage

It gets closer and closer with each minute. And to think that it will all be over after that. After that, the pressure will not be as intense anymore. After it all, there will be no more horrendously torturous sleepless nights. After it all, the shells will stop falling from the sky corrupted by 'gunshots' and migranes.

And I'll stop imagining about war, just as a broken hearted military would, or at least try.

Only to think that it's that near, it's that close. After it all, freedom.
But for now, bravery pays a price.
Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway.

Angsana Class Project: Finale

...Poem for Class Teacher...

You've touched our lives, dear Puan Ting,
Since you stepped into our class
How hard it is to imagine now,
That two years have just passed.

Angsana never was, perhaps,
An easy road for us,
But your motherly devotion
Filled it with bliss and happiness.

Thank you for the timeless moments
For believing in who we are.
You didn't just teach Add Maths
You 'integrated' us to the stars.

Whenever you need to feed yourself
On our nostalgic dose,
Distance plays no part in this,
Our gift shall keep us close.

And even with that last bell ring,
We hope you won't feel blue
School ended, yes, yet always
May our love go home with you.

Finally, our class project ready and in the hands of our class teacher. It took a lot of cutting, sticking, arranging and loads of laughter, especially when everyone came to take a look, flipping its pages. How her eyes shone when she saw it, and while the final school hour slowly ticked away, we crowded around her to watch her feast her eyes on every page.

She would get too emotional over sentimantal parts, according to her, so she saved some for home. Today, she mentioned that she's been looking at it over and over again. I guess I would have too.

While we may not get to see her shed tears, let alone even know if she did, at least we gave her a day never to be forgotten. That I'm certain we did.

Behind a name

What Rachaellum Means
You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.
You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.
A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.
Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

Weather's Wrath

What's with the weather these days? Mild floods where it shouldn't? The car almost died on us on our way home. As we passed this park, especially, you can see water gushing out from every corner. It's as good as a waterfall can get. Even the drains, normally so deep, were filled to the brim. The rainwater turned it into a river. The thought of it chills you to the bone.

And all of a sudden we have our very own version of the Nigeria Falls and Amazon River. Glory.

Happy Birthday, Vincent! '08

Happy Birthday, Vincent!!

Having a brother makes things different.
Though you do get on my nerves...
It always brings me comfort to have such a sibling.
You are a funny bag of bones who love the mere mention of adventures.
Eyes that burst into a million of emotions.
An honesty that you keep your heart with.
And a dream fueled by imagination.

Happy Birthday...

Things will change as you become 13.
But some things will stay the same.

May your year, as it changes, have the greatest of moments in store for you.

May your imagination cradle your ambition and hopes.

May your dreams come true

Imagination from emotion...and food

If fantasy is to exist, it is that of imagination.

There are those whose hearts are warmed by happiness
they see beauty in the world.

There are those whose hearts are burdened by pain

they see grief as part of their lives.

There are cups that are half full,

they see the seemingly end as a new beginning.

There are cups which are half empty

they see the mere beginning as the end.

There are those supported by friendship

they see smiling faces of love.

There are those constantly alone
they see the loneliness of their soul.
There are those who place their fate in luck

they let destiny run its course.

There are those who live their dreams by will

they seek oppurtunities.
And there are those who see only food.

They are hungry.

Caution: Hectic Week Ahead!

This is going to be one hectic week.

I've twelve subjects to worry about, which, of course, I will get them all folded up and fitted to that 'suitcase' in my head. Trials showed a series of roller coaster rides, so it'll get me going. I hope.

Am I expected to study 24/7? I do know it's an important year and all that...but am I supposed to isolate myself from public right now? Once I go in, oh, it's so hard to get out of it. My blood pressure may break the thermometer with an explosion!

All this is giving me countless migranes and toying with my insecurity. It isn't a feeling I plan to live with or go through, in any case.
Over the phone:
"Yip, and they kept reminding me it's that close."
"Actually it's one more month."
"I know."
Right now, I'm pretty sure those without free spa vouchers are relying on this stress reduction kit to push out the pain from their heads.

Class Project: Farewell Gift

So here we were --- Amirah, Zi Qian, Yong Hui and I...swimming over a pool of photos, papers, craft supplies and what-nots. At the moment, for those who have no idea what this is about, well, we're making something for someone special. We'll keep the surprise and reaction for later, shall we?

Here's the poem I wrote, but I'll post that up another day.

The very first page that really got us going...

Cut out collages never fail to impress!! And everyone got their little section of their own!

Well, it's not exactly done, but it was really fun to put everything together. Can't wait to see it finished and ready to drive someone to tears!

Quote~"She'd better cry...if she doesn't cry, I will!!"

All the Best (times 3)

This post goes to my sister and cousins.

It is fun, isn't it, to have family members who really understand what you are going through. That's why you trio have each other! Three separate cousins, with three contrasting personalities, three different lives in three different states, yet sharing a bond so close, with every reunion venting school stress and idle chit chat.

Next week all eyes fall on you three---it is your Big Battle now. Not against each other, of course, but against that similar rival. Three letters---PMR.

May your ever-so-dedicated-to-succeed spirits flare in the exam hall, may your pens and pencils be able to scribble like the flowing currents of the river, and may luck be sitting by your side, just in case you need a little encouragement.

You can do it, guys! All the best!

Taman Aman

It didn't look like the kind of place to have a park anywhere near it. All of a sudden you'll find yourself walking down a very tranquil looking path that leads to a huge park, tucked away from bustling streets, as one would probably find by following a white rabbit down the burrow.

You can hear birds chirping from a distance, and crickets singing from the bushes. Once in a while, you can hear the LRT roaring pass, but as I said, just once in a while, reminding you that you're no where near Never land. The trails stretch themselves far and fork out to many crossroads. Not bad for walking or cycling!
Anyone staying near it practically owns a free lifetime gym membership, children's pass to playgrounds and meditative treatment facilities. It even has a skateboard arena for fellow skaters to conquer!!

In the middle of it all lies a huge lake beautifying the scene, so quiet and calm. And there's this wide path with serene trees waving pass on both sides of it. Reminds me of one of those movies.

What I liked most was the area where you can only hear the crickets with nothing else, and though it looked a little secluded from the rest, there are trees that resemble illustrations in books that speak of myths and legends. I don't have any pictures of it, unfortunately, but I don't mind coming back!

Raya Relaxing

Raya holidays call for serious unwinding. That's after cancelling out all the guilt, of course, but I had my fair share of studying. I've been learning to play new pieces by ear and by watching some really good piano players online. Hits that keep on rolling in my head:

  • David Cook's "Time of my Life"
  • Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"
  • Keith Urban's "Once in a Lifetime"
  • Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours"

Speaking of which, anyone been to the Raya Bazaar? You get to walk a long stretch of road and get your stomachs grumbling from all the sights and smells. The Roti John and Pita were not too bad, but I loved the murtabak!!
Then there are the times when I get to go out with my family(must tell you about that gorgeous park in my next post). Not forgetting the bicycles rides around the neighbourhood...super fun!

Now I must turn the house around to find some photos for a little 'class project' the Angsanians have intended to do. Wish me luck!
