Proceed

Yesterday there was a Wesak Day Float Procession, so my family and I went to take a look. Although it is an annual affair, it was on our list of things to do, being an uncommon sighting around the area.

On the floats there were monks sprinkling holy water over the devotees as they followed the floats carrying candles or blinking lights (Mixture of tradition and technology, I suppose) as well as the spectators. It is said to bring blessing and protection.

We could have stayed longer but the rain got heavier by the minute, and none of us had an umbrella. My brother had the leverage, having brought his bicycle out. So the rest of us (including one of our cats which tagged along) raced back home.

Here are a couple more photos of the Guan Yin - goddess of compassion.

Note:

It's about time I proceed with my studying.

This 'Enlightening' event is giving me another guilt trip!

Bah. Humbug.

I need to escape from it all. (Finally! I've decided not to backspace.)

Exams are looming over my head. (Finally! At least I'm typing something.) Every now and then, my conscience takes me back to my messy table to study. Other times I convince myself to relax, watch television or surf the net. Not without sending me guilty vibes.

As of now, I want to post something up otherwise it'll bug me for days.

I've been tapping on the table for a while now, contemplating whether I should just delete this post. There are thoughts simply tumbling out of my head, but it's been one long day and maybe I'll post them up another day.

Alright! I will put this in point form! (Finally! I'm moving on.)

1. My dad gave me "important information" what lies overseas.

2. Math is choking me.

3. Exams are coming. Can you see the billows?

4. I'm awfully hungry right now.

5. Fullstop. End of it all.

(Finally. That took less than a minute.)

Okay! Let's get gungho over this! All the best to everyone taking their finals or mid-terms this time around!

Secrets and Fortunes.

Out for some ice-cream, secrets-sharing, and fortune telling - that was a Sunday I could not turn down. I'll take it as a break from studying. And I haven't met up with them for quite a while!

Sweet delights lined on our table. They may look like small servings but one scoop was more than enough.

Mine was 'Berry and Current', which I initially felt was too sweet but got used to it after a while.

With some tarot cards in hand, we took turns looking into our past, present and future, like we did years ago.

None of us are professionals; we relied on the little book that came with the deck. Amazingly accurate? That's what they said. Me? I've always thought it true, but whether the future would be accurate we'll never know. Lots to think about now.

The Genting gang who had been through Genting 'experiences'.

We walked around to look for special gifts, which so far has lead to nothing. Then we had lunch.

The cards still intrigued them. And why not? So much of it makes sense!

There must be something fishy going on.

Gleek

If people started bursting into a song in real life, it'd make me a happy person. Are you going to call me naive? Let's just say I prefer eggs with the sunny side up. Have you seen the video of the 'live advertisement' for The Sound of Music?

No? Then watch this .

GLEE Pictures, Images and Photos

If you don't already know, Glee is on NTV7! I've been waiting for this to hit the screens! The first episode was wonderful and I'm hooked. Gleeks unite!

On another note, I'm not a fan of Math, yet time is ticking away.

Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music.

Creepy thing

Of all the times for it to crawl out, it had to do so late at night, when the whole house was asleep. Only our demure cat lay in her cage; the more agressive one haven't returned. I was hoping to let the cats get it, like they always do.

But there was only me...and that creepy thing. So it was my decision - Leave it be? Or make the kill?

PS. Thank goodness it's a large one (yes, I mean it), and not tiny enough to hide in obscure places.

Remnants

Now for a little walk down memories from our last week of college.

Take 2: Economics Class
Take 3: Core Maths Class

I'm hard to please. These are only three out of five group photos I'm meant to have. There's none for our Statistics and English Literature classes!

It was quite a shock when we found out that there were five Rach(a)els in our intake during term one and that three were in our class. We had to get use to calling 'ourselves', although most of the time we decided that surnames eliminates the confusion. Yes, call one name and all would turn.

We did something that, on a regular day, we would not have done! (Just the two of us) Let's just say it's in honour of the 'Dead Poet's Society'. (Watch the movie!)

Cakes at Chillax! Honestly not as good as what I've tasted elsewhere, but the cheesecake with strawberry jam is not bad.

There's a lot more than this, and these are just remnants of it. Though hard, they will be added to my collection, strung together, until it is in one piece again. Not the same as the original cloths, I guess, but a quilt is just as good!

One down. Eight to go.

Not that this amount comforts me, but I have to thank someone for becoming the 'life saviour' for our paper today. If you've sat for it, you just may know who I'm referring to.

Also I've recently read up on a sleep disorder called 'sleep paralysis', which Sher Lynn enlightened me on. It's when your brain 'wakes up' before your REM ends, so technically you are 'awake' in mind but your body cannot move a bit. You fight and struggle, but it would be of no use. It was, at one point, suggested to be a supernatural event.

Of course, eventually science backed that up. And so the result shows that most people experience this once or twice in their lives! And especially students, if I may just add.

It happened to me once some time back and since I had no idea what it was, the whole process was extremely unpleasant. Not that I want it to happen again.

Hmm. It says here on a website that sleep paralysis is normally caused by stress, migranes, other sleep disoders...or sleep deprivation. Not a good sign, is it? You know what, I better hit the bed now.

Sleep well, guys, 'sleep paralysis' isn't fun. But don't panic if you get them. Try not to, at least.

Happy Mother's Day '10

A butterfly is a symbol for many things. For being the one to watch us through our transformation...
For being wise, graceful and beautiful...

For being everlasting like that of the Butterfly lovers...

For being there...

Happy Mother's Day...

Some things.

Sometimes things just don't change, I suppose. Some things never change.

A few years ago, I was determined not to put myself through the pressure if ever the choice is put before me again. Lo and behold, I did, hoping that everything would be different. Maybe, at first, it seemed natural, as if the ship had its path mapped out and it would be smooth sailing.

I guess the turn of the tide would come eventually. All journeys are the same.

I'm going to use the weekend to calm myself down, get my spirits high again. Then it would be time to hit the books. Book after book after book.

And maybe, just maybe, I can steer the ship pass the storm.

PS. I owe you photos.

'Class' Project

Last week of classes, and I'm undertaking some final 'class projects' for the term. Apart from gathering a bunch of friends with Jennifer to book a table for the ball, I'm going to make sure I take lots of photos. My priorities go to our class photos, but for one or two, there may be some problems. Forget about that for now, I'll find a way!

TAKE ONE:

Here's my Chemistry class! Although it would be nice to have all of us wearing our labcoats, it's still our last time in the lab. I'll miss the experiments (especially with my lab partner, Evena)!

That aside, mocks are over for me and next week is exams. Sigh. Too fast now, things are moving too fast now!
